Hi, I’m Julia!
I’m a current Masters student in Computational Science at the University of Vienna.
I first became interested in neuroscience because I was interested the neuroscience of language and multilingualism. I began (and will soon complete!) my Master’s thesis on how multilingualism relates to activation in reward regions during naturalistic speech listening in the Brain and Language Lab with Professor Narly Golestani.
Partway through my Master’s, I discovered the neuroscience of C. elegans. I joined the Zimmer Lab with Professor Manuel Zimmer for an internship. I loved that individual neurons could be directly linked to behavior.
Moving forwards, I hope to continue studying how neural circuits generate sophisticated behavior in basic organisms. I am particularly interested in memory, decision-making, and learning.
What I’m up to
I’m currently finishing up my Master’s thesis at the University of Vienna. If you know of any opportunities that would be a good fit for the future, let me know!
